wedding, reception, corporate meeting or special event. Whitehall House & Gardens
offers a unique opportunity to gather and celebrate, to meet and commemorate
special occasions of all types and sizes. Here you will find complete,
personal service aimed at making your special day or event as worry-free and
memorable as possible.
Whitehall Mansion
You'll enjoy an elegance lovingly preserved for you and your
guests at the Whitehall mansion. This 19th century
antebellum home offers grandeur, grace and style, making
it a perfect setting for your special day or event. The
interior reflects the house as it was in 1909 with wall
coverings, carpets and antiques reminiscent of the period.
The open floor plan allows great flexibility and creativity
for any occasion. The mansion can accommodate up to
200 guests for cocktail/buffet style receptions and up to
100 for a sit-down dinner. The spacious double parlor
features an 1860 piano for guests' use, and the room also
can accommodate a small combo or DJ and dancing.
Completely renovated in 1994, the mansion is fully air-conditioned
and boasts a large catering kitchen and ample restroom facilities.
 The Gardens & Grounds
Imagine standing under a canopy of lavender Wisteria ...
strolling along a garden path lined with boxwoods ... or
relaxing in the company of tea roses, a fountain and topiaries. This
resplendent beauty of a classic Victorian garden can serve
as the elegant setting for your special event or occasion
at Whitehall House & Gardens.
In combination with the mansion, the entire estate can accommodate
up to 350 guests. The spacious lawn and gardens, which
may be rented in addition to the mansion*, make an impressive
and elegant presentation for covered (tented) or open-air
events. The gardens also include a graceful garden
terrace that is a romantic setting for any wedding ceremony.
The garden and grounds also are well suited for corporate
events, family reunions, receptions, anniversaries, and retirement
parties. The gardens at Whitehall are unmatched for
outdoor photography opportunities to commemorate your day
or event.
*The mansion must be rented in conjunction with the gardens;
however, the mansion can be rented without the gardens.
Our Doors are Open
At Whitehall House & Gardens, we open our doors to you
and your guests to help ensure that your event or occasion
is memorable, enjoyable, and worry-free. While the
mansion and gardens are unique in their style and details,
our approach to ensuring your successful event is equally
unique among rental facilities:
- You may choose from our list of pre-approved caterers.
- We do not assess a bar fee for unopened, returned bottles
of beverage alcohol not consumed at your event.
- Tents may be left in place for up to three days before
any service charge is assessed.
Our Location is Convenient
Whitehall House & Gardens is conveniently located in the
quaint community of St. Matthews, just minutes from downtown
Louisville. There are a number of nearby full-service
hotels and motels for out-of-town visitors, who also can enjoy
some of Louisville's best shopping and dining opportunities
within a short drive.
