Rental of the site includes the use of the following:
The Facility: The Carriage House is a two-story building
located next to the historic home. It has two large rooms
(one upstairs and one downstairs), an up-to-date kitchen,
restrooms, and a small room on the upper level often
used as dressing room. Between the two floors, the building
holds 64 people seated or 100 people standing. From April
through October, the rental fee includes use of the gardens
behind the historic home and the grounds where 250 –
300 people can be accommodated.
Tables/Chairs: The renter may use our eight 6' tables
and 64 fold-up chairs in either the Carriage House or
on the grounds. Please note that Farmington's tables
and chairs cannot be placed outside if it rains and may
not be set up night before. Any extra tables and chairs
needed must be rented from an outside company. Tents
may be set-up on the grounds. Please advise a staff person
if extra tables/chairs or tents are being delivered.
Kitchen Facilities: The renter is allowed use of the
kitchen in the Carriage House. Included in this use are
three large garbage cans and garbage bags.
Rental Policies:
- Farmington is first and foremost an historic site.
The rental event must not damage or adversely affect
the site in any way.
- Smoking is not permitted in any of the buildings
on site. Smoking in the Carriage House will result
in the loss of the damage deposit.
- Tents are allowed on site. Delivery and set-up
must be on the day of the event and pick-up of the
equipment must occur by 10:00 AM the following morning.
Some allowances are made for deliveries for weekend
rentals. Please remember that other people rent the
site and failure to notify the rental company of Farmington
policy could affect the next rental event.
- Renters are responsible for set-up and clean-up.
The Caretaker will be provided with a damage checklist.
Failure on the part of the rental party or the rental
party's caterer to return the site to pre-rental condition
could result in the loss of the damage deposit. Please
note: This includes tables/chairs cleaned, trash removed,
counters cleaned, floors swept, etc. Farmington's tables
and chairs must be returned to the Carriage House immediately
after the event. Any damages will be taken out of the
damage deposit.
- Farmington requires that all events use a licensed
caterer, however there are no restrictions on the renter's
choice of caterer. If alcohol is to be served, the
caterer must have liquor liability insurance or a licensed
bartender must serve. No kegs or cash bars are allowed.
- No rice, birdseed, flower petals, or any other
confetti-like material may be thrown in the Carriage
House. Only birdseed and flower petals may be thrown
outside the Carriage House.
- Farmington is in a residential neighborhood so
music must be kept at a reasonable level. The caretaker
has the right to ask renters to adjust the music volume
at any time.
- Parking is allowed either in the lot in front
of the Visitors Center or in the adjacent gravel lot.
The bridal party is welcome to stage a "send-off" (including
their automobile) in the circle in front of the Carriage
House. If extra parking is needed, please call Sullivan
University (Charla Adcock, 451-0815) at least two weeks
prior to the rental event.
- Cancellation of the rental event will result in
the forfeiture of the $400 rental deposit. Any cancellations
must be in writing; Cancellations made over the phone
will not be accepted. Rental deposits will be refunded
only if the date is re-rented.
